A hundred years of struggle, a hundred years of strong
Before 1949, China's petroleum refining industry was extremely small and did not have its own technology. In the miserable years of the Anti-Japanese War, a serious oil shortage occurred in the rear area of the Anti-Japanese War, and the difficult time of "a drop of gasoline is a drop of blood" was passed. Achieving self-sufficiency in petroleum products is the dream of pioneers in the field of petroleum refining in China and the lifelong pursuit of several generations. After the founding of New China, especially after the discovery and development of the Daqing Oilfield in 1959, crude oil production increased significantly, and my country's petroleum refining industry developed rapidly. Based on the domestic crude oil production, national defense construction and the urgent demand of the national economy for petroleum products, the Ministry of fuel industry has organized all aspects of the country to carry out the work of petroleum refining technology development, equipment construction and production at the same time. In terms of petroleum refining technology development, scientists such as Hou Xianglin, Min Enze, Chen Junwu and Wu Baochen led their petroleum refining technology development teams and started the long march to surpass Britain and the United States. In a relatively short period of time, they successfully developed "five golden flowers" such as catalytic cracking, catalytic reforming, delayed coking, urea dewaxing, catalysts and additives, making domestic petroleum refining technology gradually catch up with the technical level of developed countries in Europe and America, it solved the problem of technical "stuck neck", provided high-quality diesel oil for the normal operation of tanks in the plateau area in Southwest China in 1962 and aviation kerosene to ensure the normal flight of fighter planes, solved the urgent demand of national defense for the type and quantity of oil products, and met the needs of national economic development.
The emergence of deep catalytic cracking technology in 1990 marked the beginning of an era of independent innovation in China's petroleum refining technology. At the beginning of this century, my country independently innovated the variable-diameter fluidized bed catalytic cracking technology and its low-cost gasoline production technical route in the process of gasoline quality upgrading, and realized the reduction of olefins, sulfur, and octane number while increasing gasoline production. It is regarded as another revolutionary technological innovation after the relay molecular sieve catalysis in the 70-year development history of catalytic cracking. The successful development of low-cost gasoline quality continuous upgrading technology benefits from Sinopec's concept of close integration of major national demand and market competition. Deep catalytic cracking technology and variable-diameter fluidized bed catalytic cracking technology have become typical cases of scientific and technological self-reliance in China.
From the perspective of the development of China's petroleum refining technology from scratch, from tracking imitation to independent innovation, the primary factor is that there must be a strong organizational leadership, able to efficiently organize all aspects of the force, the beginning can go hand in hand at the same time to carry out research and development, design and device construction, which can save a lot of time and quickly reach a higher level of technology; secondly, there must be leaders at key technical nodes, such as Academician Chen Junwu, the leader of my country's early catalytic cracking process design, Dr. Wu Baochen, the leader of process research and development, and Academician Min Enze, the leader of catalyst research and development, under their leadership, Formed a strong development team; then there is the selfless dedication of countless technicians and production operators.
It is precisely by relying on the above three factors that we have truly developed petroleum refining technology on our own and blazed a unique development path with Chinese characteristics.
